                               RESOLUTION NO. 19073
                  
                  
                   A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO
                   EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH HAZLETT, LEWIS &
                   BIETER, CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANTS, TO
                   AUDIT THE BOOKS, RECORDS AND ACCOUNTS OF ALL
                   FUNDS OF THE CITY OF CHATTANOOGA FOR THE
                   FISCAL YEAR ENDING JUNE 30, 1991, SUBJECT TO
                   APPROVAL BY THE COMPTROLLER OF THE TREASURY,
                   STATE OF TENNESSEE, AS PROVIDED BY LAW, FOR
                   AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED SEVENTY-FIVE
                   THOUSAND AND NO/100 DOLLARS ($75,000.00) FOR
                   THE 1991 FISCAL YEAR, WITH A FIVE PERCENT
                   (5%) ESCALATOR FOR THE 1992 AND 1993 FISCAL
                   YEARS, WITH THE FEDERAL AND STATE PROGRAMS,
                   THE INTERCEPTOR SEWER SYSTEM, AND THE
                   JOINTLY FUNDED AGENCIES PAYING A PRO-RATA
                   SHARE OF THE COST.
                  
                  
                                                    
                  
                  
       	    	 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
       CHATTANOOGA, TENNESSEE, That the Mayor be and is hereby 
authorized
       to execute a contract with Hazlett, Lewis & Bieter, certified
       public accountants, to perform a financial and compliance audit 
of
       the books, records and accounts of all funds of the City of
       Chattanooga for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1991, including
       the Fire & Police Pension Fund, General Pension Fund, Interceptor 

       Sewer System, and all grant programs as set forth in guidelines
       issued by the Comptroller of the Treasury, State of Tennessee, 
and
       the Single Audit Act of 1984, and in accordance with OMB Circular 

       A-128, and any other applicable Federal Management Circulars, for 

       a total fee not to exceed $75,000.00 for the 1991 fiscal year,
       with a 5% escalator for the 1992 and 1993 fiscal years, with the
       Federal and State Programs, Interceptor Sewer System, and the
       Jointly Funded Agencies paying a pro-rata share of the cost.  The 

       contract shall be subject to approval by the Comptroller of the
       Treasury, State of Tennessee, as provided by law.
